Jenny Toro Salas (born in 1989) is a visual artist hailing from Pereira, Colombia, with a dedicated focus on performance art. Through her creative endeavors, she delves into the production of action records, primarily captured through the mediums of photography and video. Her work is driven by a profound interest in exploring the intricate interplay between the human body, notions of power, expressions of violence, and the enduring quality of resilience.

In her artistic practice, Jenny also integrates unconventional techniques such as tattooing and embroidery, utilizing them as tools for both written expression and the construction of archival narratives. Her work is uniquely centered around the experiential aspect of the human body, which she perceives as a historical subject, a living repository of memories, and a vessel for the unconscious symbolism from which she draws inspiration for the composition of her narratives.

She earned her degree in Visual Arts from the Universidad Nacional de las Artes (UNA) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. During her academic journey, she had the privilege of studying under the mentorship of renowned performance artists like Abel Azcona, Aidana Rico Chavez, Boris Nieslony, and took lessons in the art of Butoh dance from esteemed instructors such as Katsura Kan and Rhea Volij.

Jenny's artistic journey has been marked by active participation in various international events in Argentina, Bolivia y Chile, and residencies such Amazonas program, led by María José Arjona at FLORA ars+natura in Bogotá in 2019. In 2015, was recognized with a scholarship from the academic mobility program in the arts (MAGA) at the University of Sao Paulo, where she contributed to the institutional project, 'Crossroads between Art, Technology, and Politics in the Contemporary Performing Arts Scene in South America.'

In 2021, supported by a scholarship for research and creation from the stimulus program of the Secretary of Culture of Pereira, she curated and presented the solo exhibition 'Asymmetry of Forces' at the Museum of Art of Pereira. Furthermore, she authored the eponymous book, published by the Disenso publishing house. Her artistic contributions continue to make waves in the art world, with her works 'La casa tiene fantasmas' and 'Cuerpos dóciles' being added to the prestigious collections of the Museo de Arte de Pereira and the Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogotá, respectively.
